Especially beginners and experienced beginners (Level 1 & 2) will love our surf spot. Bonavista Bay is known as one of the best surf spots in the world. This is because the bay is protected from the prevailing wind directions, making the waves more "organised" and clean. The wave itself breaks on sand and runs very smooth and slow. This is ideal for learning and improving the right technique.
As a beginner or experienced beginner (Level 1 & 2) we want to make you feel comfortable and secure. Therefore we will first give you all the basic theoretical information in our relaxing chill-out area before we hit the water. We take our job seriously to teach you all the fundamentals of surfing. All Surf Spirit Coaches are well trained and experienced to provide analytical feedback to get your surfing to the next level. Besides the surf lessons feel free to use our surf equipment free of charge to go surfing on your own.
After your week at the Surf Spirit Retreat, you will have developed a secure stand-up technique on the board, a controlled ride on the wave and you will be able to ride your first maneuvers. In addition to these skills, you will be able to recognize good spots to surf securely on your own.
We will go into even more detail when it comes to the video analysis of your surfing experience. You will get helpful advice to improve your technique. Our professional photographer will capture your best waves so you will get the opportunity to take home all of your pictures for just 25 Euro.
Being an Intermediate (Level 3) surfer we will check your current status to then work on a way to improve your technique & knowledge to get you on the next possible level. Our experienced surf coaches will make you focus on the next steps to make your improvement as efficient as possible and gain the best result within your stay with us. These lessons are prepared specifically for the individual needs of each surfer. Often we go into wave reading, the timing of the pop-up, redevelop the pop-up itself, ride the ideal line of the wave, bottom & top turn, and much more. You will also have the opportunity to take part in our additional free service, Surf Guiding. Please note that our instructors will check if the guiding at a challenging surf spot suits your surfing level.
Intermediate / Advanced (Level 4) surfers also have the opportunity to challenge themselves in bigger & faster waves when feeling confident with the basic surf techniques. The guiding is an extra service we provide for surfers who already feel comfortable surfing on top of a reef. These sessions are offered additionally in early mornings (parallel to the early morning yoga). This means you jump in the Jeep with our coaches. A few details about the spot and individual advice will be given. Then you just enjoy the surf together. The structured guiding should be seen as an addition to our surf classes. Please note that our coaches will check if the guiding on a challenging surf spot will match your surf level.
